Description
1st Place Winner - Sci-fi contest: Entering a Portal - April 2022
Comment from the Judge: "I'd like to write that movie and go myself to explore this world, wow!"
Daily Swim is designed to peak the interest of those who appreciate geometric exactness, metallic textures, sweet-light colors, reflections in water, and the quiet beauty of arches and spheres.
Story:
On this future Earth, the towering time portal on the right is activated by first moving a "key sphere" through the smaller arch and perfectly aligning it under larger sphere, then spinning it to the right for the future, and left for the past.
Earlier in the story, the key sphere had been removed and hidden, so that our character (the swimmer) would be unable to return to his life in the past. Using his skills and ingenuity, the man was successful at retrieving the key, and in this image, he is towing it out to the portal, using a rope tied around his waste. Whether he makes it home or not is contingent upon setting the alignment before he is discovered.
The title "Daily Swim" was derived from the fact that while the key was missing, the main character would swim out to the arches each day in a desperate attempt to somehow activate the portal.
Note that the man is bald. When time traveling, all hair on the body has to first be removed, else it would catch fire.

“Passion is one great force that unleashes creativity, because if you’re passionate about something, then you’re more willing to take risks.” 💖 Congratulations on your recent sale of this amazing Work!💖
Brian Jay replied:
Yes, Gull, I've come to realize that failing is always an option for the risks I take. Once failure is accepted as a critical part of one's skill-improvement, then one feels free to take even more risks...

Amazing story, thanks for adding the backstory Brian! Now I'm even more intrigued and clearly as a sci-fi movie script writer I'm more sure than ever that this would make a great sci-fi movie.
Brian Jay replied:
I write too and at least came very close to making a movie with New Line Cinema, but when Warner took over, out went my script. I'm a huge Dust fan. I'd love to know which movies you have spawned...
